JAIPUR - THE PINK CITY

Jaipur is the capital and the largest city of Rajasthan, India. It is also polpularly known by the name of "Pink city" due to dominant colour of the city which is pink. The city is also known for its arts and crafts, which is unique and colourful.

Let me walk you to the short history of Jaipur (how it got its name as pink city) .

The story dates back to 1876, when the Prince of Wales visited India on a tour. For his visit, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur commanded to paint the entire city pink since the colour symbolises hospitality. Since then to this date, Jaipur has preserved the architecture and beholds the beauty. Today, it has become the centre of attraction for tourists. There is always something to see in Rajasthan.

If you are planning to visit the place, here are some places and attractions you can explore. These places are the ones which we visited.

                                                            AMBER PALACE

Also known as Amer Fort. This Palace sits atop of a small hill. Entirely made of red sandstone and marble, the Palace is magnificent and majestic. The interior has carvings, precious stones and mirror enhancing its beauty. To the outside, infront of the palace, there is a breathtaking view of a lake called Maota lake (you will love the view!).

The fort is divided into many sections. As you arrive at the fort, if you arrive by a car (which we did), you will enter via the Chand Pol (the main courtyard) or else via Suraj Pol.

Sheesh mahal

That one section which attracted us was the Sheesh mahal, the part of the fort which is decorated with mirrors all over, so glittery and amazing to look at. This place is amazing to be at, its architecture, you will enjoy it.

HAWA MAHAL

Hawa Mahal, as the name suggests, it is literally the Palace of wind. It was built in 1799, by the king Sawai Pratap Singh as a summer retreat for him and his family.

This Palace is built of pink sandstone and is an iconic landmark. The palace has a unique architecture, small latticed windows made all over the Palace, serving as

a sort of an air conditioner, from where the cool air blows to every nook and corner of the palace. You can climb up to the top and get the wonderful view from the window.

    ALBERT HALL MUSEUM

The building got its name from The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the inspiration for its design. The museum displays a wide range of metal objects, carpets, metal sculptures, wood crafts, arms and weapons, ivory goods and many more, all preserved till date. The museum has amazing collection and is worth visiting.

JAL MAHAL

One of the most wonderful sights in Jaipur. It is also called Lake Palace. The light, sand coloured stone walls and the deep blue water makes a wonderful contrast.

The palace is placed in the centre of the lake, Man Sagar lake and the visitors can enjoy the magnificent exterior. The visitors cannot make their way to the inside since it is in the middle of the water.

Also, just across the road you will find camels!! If you want a camel ride when u are in Jaipur, you have it.

There are many more places to visit and explore like Birla Temple, City palace, Jantar Mantar, WTP (World Trade Park, a must visit place)a nd the list goes on.

I have only hightlighted few places in this post.

Rajasthan is a true centre of attraction, their culture and tradition, so different and mesmerizing. You will fall in love with it.

MY VISIT TO NAINITAL-SAMTSE

I woke up to see beautiful sunrise, the warmth it radiated as i soaked myself in it with a cup of tea. Birds chriping in the distance, i was lost and mesmerised in the beauty of the place, serene and tranquality. It was such a wonderful day to begin with. Nainital is located in Samtse dzongkhag of Bhutan. Since it is located in the southern part of the country, you hardly see mountains around which is the best part, for me. Bhutan being a landlock country, very few places have plains and samtse in one of them.   So i visited to this place after i came back from my college recently. I have heard about this place alot from my friend which made me very excited and tempted to explore the beauty of Nainital. So i packed my bags and set my journey towards Nainital. Its about two and a half hours of journey from my place(not so far i know) and i was told its far from the town. The people out there was very kind and welcoming. My three days stay there was very fun and interesting. I got to...

PARO TAKTSANG - PARO

It was the 6th of May when i was at Paro, a valley town situated at the western part of Bhutan. Just arriving there on the day before made me feel at ease with its serene environment and a rather unique landscapes. The most striking feature that is noticed upon reaching here is the shallow valley upon which the town is situated. Since being the most easily accessible part of the country and a landscape that features remarkable plain lands; it also witnessed the only international airport and perhaps the first airport ever built in the country. Paro International Airport is the hub for Bhutan Airlines and Druk Air. Paro Airport is considered as one of the most challenging airports of the world with peaks surrounding it elevating as high as 5,500 m. Less than two dozen pilots are qualified to land at this airport. Paro International Airport, Paro. Paro also features some of the most famous religious places of the country, the most famous being the Paro Palphung Taktsang. Visitng Paro...
